2017-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-nominees-include-journey-yes-elo-pearl-jamLet the debates begin. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has just released their nominations for the class of 2017.

Nominees are Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, Jane’s Addiction, Janet Jackson, Journey, the Cars, the Zombies, Yes, Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, J. Geils Band, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, Kraftwerk, MC5 and Steppenwolf. The five acts with the most votes will be announced in December with a ceremony in April.

Fans get to vote as well as 800 artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body.

The critiria is simple, nominee’s first single or album have to be released in 1991 or earlier. Yes have been nominated for a third time now and it’s hard to fathom that they’re not in the Rock nd Roll Hall Of Fame and Chic have been nominated 11 times, Joe Tex=5, J. Geils Bands and Kraftwerk=4.

For the first time this year The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the individual members of each band that will be honored for instance with Yes, original singer Jon Anderson is on the ballot along with drummers Bill Bruford and Alan White, keyboardists Tony Kaye and Rick Wakeman, guitarists Steve Howe and Trevor Rabin and bassist Chris Squire.

Could the ceremony include some reunions? Jon Anderson has already said that he would be open to join his old band mates on stage. So will we Steve Perry jump on stage with Journey?

Last years class included N.W.A, Steve Miller, Cheap Trick, Chicago and Deep Purple.
