Celine Dion Bows Down to Shania Fans, or Does
She? August
22, 2007 - We all know how Celine
Dion likes attention and with the release
of a new album Nov 13th, I think it's safe to
say her attention grabbing habits are at an all
time high. Here's the story or rather publicity
stunt. Last week Dion told USA Today that the
new disc would be called "The Woman In Me"
which just happens to be the same name as Shania
Twain's smash 1995 Album. Needless to say Shania
fans were sweating like hookers in Catholic church
and they told two friends and so on. The news
lit up chat lines and it was mission accomplished
for the woman famous for pounding her chest with
each crescendo. The Quebec singer's CD will now
be called "Taking Chances" and it's
her first english CD in three years. "I think
this album represents a positive evolution in
my career," Dion says, "I'm feeling
strong, maybe a little gutsier than in the past,
and just as passionate about music and life as
I ever was." Expect Blues and elements of
Rock on the disc. Oh, goody, maybe she'll cover
AC/DC again! - by John

Dion To Be Phased Out Of Chrysler Ads March
5, 2004 - Celine
Dion's days as a car salesman seem to
be done. DaimlerChrysler says they plan to
phase out the singers presence on their car
ads in favor of campaigns focusing more on
the cars themselves. Marketing analysts say
Dion didn't connect with the automaker or
its brands. Dion has a three-year, 14 million-dollar
(US) deal with Chrysler. The auto company
is planning on using the singer in another
capacity in public service ads aimed at promoting
child safety. The new TV ads will debut later
this month.

Dion Receives Star on Walk Of Fame January
7, 2004 - It was an emotional day yesterday
for Celine Dion who finally received her star
on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Dion was originally
set to receive the honor last March, but the
ceremony was postponed because of the war
in Iraq. The ceremony was the first award
for 2004 with the singer dedicating the honor
to her number one fan, her father who passed
away last month. After the shindig Dion spent
over an hour with her fans signing autographs
and listening to them sing her songs. The
singer said some fans know her tunes better
than she does. Dion said the whole event was
a dream come true. Dion's star is number 2,244th
on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Celine
Dion Top Designated Driver December
4, 2003 - In the season of getting sloshed,
here's a survey that sounds a little tipsy!
A poll sponsored by Anheuser-Busch asked "If
you had too much to drink who would you like
to have as a designated driver?" Top
answer - Celine Dion? Were they asked this
before or after they were drunk? Also on the
list for preffered celebrity designated drivers
country singer Tim McGraw, Jennifer Lopez
and Lionel
Richie also made the cut, as did Jon Bon
Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce Knowles,
John Mayer and Kelly Clarkson.

Vandross(left) and rapper 50 Cent led
the winners with two trophies each at last
nights American Music Awards. Vandross who
suffered a stroke on April 16th of this
year won for best male R&B performer

most recent CD, "Dance with My Father."
The singer who according to his representatives
is far from fully recovered can speak but
needs assistance to walk. His mother, Mary
Vandross, accepted both awards on his behalf.

speechlessness. More.
Celine
Dion Gets A Thumbs Down From Vanity Fair September
17, 2003 - Just a day after Celine Dion
proclaimed to ABC's Primetime Monday that
she doesn't care what "very snobby"
critics say comes word of more bad reviews.
Vanity Fair magazine has blasted Dion's
Vegas show in the October issue describing
her stage presence as "a weird hybrid
of Pinocchio and Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
Ouch! The magazine also attacked Dion personally
saying, "for all her gym-tuned, dance-coached
stagecraft, Dion still manages to look like
the fat kid who won Weight-Watcher of the
Year." The magazine says, "Dion
doesn't so much project songs as implore
them to leave her body." The article
seemed to attack everyone in the house including
the audience describing them as "the
fattest people on the planet." American

Dion Doesn't Care For Snobby Critics September
16, 2003 - Celine Dion says she's well aware
of the criticism that's out there about
her music but she doesn't care. The singer
told ABC's Primetime last night that bad
press from "very snobby" critics
doesn't really affect her. Dion says her
albums are popular and tickets to her Las
Vegas concerts are selling out. Dion also
brought up her new short hairdo mentioning
that some people have told her it was a
wrong move and her reaction? "I can
always have long hair with a wig."
As for the rumors the singer is battling
anorexia she says, "It's just so easy
to point the finger at the famous." Celine
Dion Opens In Vegas March
25, 2003 - To say Celine Dion is under a
lot of pressure would be this year's biggest
understatement. Her 'New Day' extravaganza
opens in Vegas tonight - the first show
of a 3 year/200 gig engagement.The much-hyped
concert series includes 48 dancers and a
seven-piece band plus she'll perform 23
songs over more than 90 minutes. Dion admits
its a little nerve racking but takes it
all in stride saying all opening nights
come with fears and doubts. To ad to the
pressure this particular opening night will
be aired on CBS tonight. With a new CD 'One
Heart' released today and Celine's usual
media hype sales of her new Vegas show have
gained momentum word is it's now sold out
well into May. Just a few weeks ago some
critics were predicting doom for Celine
when word got out that only two weeks had
been sold out.
Celine
Dion Puts Hold On Hollywood Star March
21, 2003 - Celine Dion was suppose to
get her star on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame today but she opted out because of
the situation in Iraq saying, "It's
not appropriate at this time to celebrate.''
She says her thoughts and prayers are
with the men, women and children who are
involved in this "at home and overseas.''
Dion opens her three year Las Vegas concert
engagement next Tuesday. Some Vegas insiders
have predicted doom for her stint at the
new Colosseum at Caesars Palace saying
Celine just isn't Vegas and ticket prices
are too high. So far only the first two
weeks of the show are sold out.
